Eagles Advance to PRU HS Finals
On April 22, Gonzaga defeated John Carroll High School in the Potomac Rugby Union High School Semi Finals, 36-14. The Eagles advance to the PRU High School Finals against Hyde School to be held this Saturday, Aprll 26 in Severn River at 9:15AM. Gonzaga is in pursuit of its ninth PRU Championship in a row. Tour News from Barcelona
(17 March 2008) -The Gonzaga Rugby team played their first matches on tour against San Cugat with the B side falling 46 0.  In the A match, the boys came out with a purpose and defeated San Cugat 46 24.  Try scorers included Sacasa 2, LaPaille, Penberthy 2, Mellody, Bruno, Beauregard and Buckley with 3 conversions. On May 13, the Gonzaga Freshman/Sophomore team won its second consecutive Potomac Rugby Union Division 3 championship, beating Mount St. Joe's 38-0, Georgetown Prep 27-7, French International School 37-5 and Loyola 41-5 in the final.


Gonzaga finished 6th in the Nation after a loss against Brownsburg from Indiana, 17-12, on Saturday. In the first round, Gonzaga lost to Penn High School, 22-7. In the second game, Gonzaga defeated Houston St. Thomas, 17-10. NATIONALS PICTURES

On May 6, Gonzaga defeated John Carroll High School, 54-10, in the Mid-Atlantic Rugby Football Union Championship to claim the #5 seed in Tier A in the National High School Championships in Salt Lake City Utah on May 18-19. In the MARFU semifinals, Gonzaga overcame an early deficit and shut out West Shore United from Eastern Pennsylvania in the second half to secure their trip to Nationals, 24-21. MARFU SEMIFINAL PICTURES

On April 28, Gonzaga defeated John Carroll High School, 43-22, to win the Potomac Rugby Union Championship for eight years in a row, and its ninth in ten years. Both teams qualify for the Mid-Atlantic regionals against the East Pennsylvania Rugby Union top two teams held on Sunday, May 6 in New Windsor, MD. Gonzaga will kickoff at 11:00AM against the EPRU #2 team, West Shore United.

On April 25, Gonzaga defeated North Bay RFC, 41-10, to advance to the Potomac Rugby Union Championship match for its eleventh straight year. In the Quarterfinal match, the Eagles defeated Calvert Hall, 67-0. The Championship match against John Carroll will be held this Saturday, April 28 at 12PM in American Legion Post 175 in Severna Park, MD. PRU SEMIS PICTURES
